RV Repair: question about an auxillary switch, smog test, blown fuse

Question
Why is it all of a sudden, ( we had our 1988 Winnabago smogged this week , but we figure that this happening had nothing to do with this, just a little info),now when we turn the auxillary switch (to go from battery to generator) won't work unless plugged into elecricity?  This was not the case when checking on it before smog test, hence the above info. Could it be the silanoid.  Thank you in advance for your time.

Answer
Laura,
It sounds like you are talking about the battery disconnect switch.  There may be a blown fuse on the battery or the battery may be discharged and it wont work until you plug it in and it gets power from the converter.  It's really hard to diagnose electrical problems without being able to test things.  I hope this helps and good luck with your repair.
