RV Repair: Slideout awning, alpha gold, happy camping

Question
On my 2001 Alpha Gold the awning that covers the living room slidout comes out with the slideout. It somehow rolled up unevenly and when opening the slideout it wrapped around the end of the roller and pulled the mounting strip loose on one end. What is involved in removing the awning strip mounted to the wall so that the awning can be reinserted and straightened?   Thanks

Answer
Hugh,
I'm not sure exactly which band or model of cover we are talking about, but here is the basic idea.  You will need to put a pin(s) through the spring(s) and end cap(s) on the slideout cover and then remove the cover from the mounting brackets and slide it out of the awning rail.  You can then get to the awning rail to reattach it to the sidewall and then slide the cover back in and remount it to the mounting brackets.  Remove the pin(s) that you put through the spring(s) and when it's straight put a set screw through the awning rail and cover to keep it from moving.  I hope this helps, good luck and happy camping.
