RV Repair: Rubber roof bubble repair, contact cement, happy camping

Question
My 1998 Nash TT has an area of less than 2sq ft where the rubber roof is not bonded to the plywood substrate. I am confident that this was an installation problem, I noticed the problem in 1999, but I did not understand its possible effect.

What I want to do is to cut a hole in the EPM rubber and pump some latex sealent (Dap Dynaflex230) using a tube extension and then use a roller to get the air out and spread the sealant.  Then I plan to patch the hole with eternal bond tape.  Will this work?  Is there a better type of adhesive I should use? Maybe contact cement?

Answer
Frank,
Whenever we do this type of repair we use the glue for installing a roof, so I am not sure how well the sealant you are thinking of using will work. To cover a small hole in the rubber we usually install a dummy sewer vent to cover it.  It looks like it's supposed to be there and there is no "visible" patch.  You should be able to get a qt. of rubber roof glue at any RV parts store.  I hope this helps, good luck and happy camping.
