RV Repair: LP Gas and rv seating, propane refrigerator, recliner chair

Question
Hi there Ron;
I am new to the rv experience.  A have a class A motorhome.  In order to drive to my destination is it ok to have the LP Gas on so that my refrigerator is working.  Is there another way or is this considered a no no.  And what are the rules or laws regarding how many passengers are allowed to be seated in the rv while driving on the road. Naturally the driver's seat and co-pilot have seat belts.  There is a sofa which can seat 3, a recliner chair and the two chairs at the dinnette.  None of which have seat belts.  Is it cool to use this seating to transport.  I have on one or two occasions and was smooth sailing all the way. I guess my real question is pertaining to weather or not this is legal.
Thank You,
Gene M.

Answer
As far as propane being on when an RV is driving down the road, that is up to you and the laws of the state you are traveling in.  Personally, I drive mine with the propane refrigerator running and have never had a problem but always remember to turn it off before "pulling in to a gas station and while fueling up".  Most people forget and that is where the problems start. Most RV manufacturers that I am aware of frown on the practice.
I am a seat belt fan and have seatbelts available anywhere a person can sit but that also depends on the laws of the state you are traveling in. You must have an old RV, all newer ones I have seen have seat belts everywhere.
