RV Repair: RV battery systems, itasca suncruiser, winnebago itasca

Question
I bought my first class A motorhome-1995 Winnebago Itasca Suncruiser with Ford F53 chassis. Previously, I had a class C. I'm trying to figure out how the 2 battery systems are connected. I noticed there is no plus wire connected to the 'house' pair of batteries. I found this out by mistake when I ran the chassis battery down by 'playing' with things. When I switched the aux-start over to start my motorhome, I got nothing. Searching around the battery compartment, I can not find a wire somebody forgot to hook up for the house batteries. I checked with the electrical tech at the dealer where I bought it, and he said the house batteries should connect to the same insulated stud where the chassis battery is connected in the battery well. I got the schematics from Winnebago and they don't agree. It looks like there should be a separate wire that goes from the positive side of the house batteries, to one side of the mode solenoid-or the disconnect solenoid. I'm a newbie on this type of coach/battery system, but know a good bit about power and electricity, however it seems like tying both battery systems together is the 'wrong' thing to do. To me, it seems like somebody-sometime connected one of the wires to the wrong place. Any suggestions for tracing this out? Also, any info about how the disconnect solenoid and mode switch figure into this circuit would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to learn about my new RV.

Answer
I am not familiar with your particular model but do own a Winnebago myself.  I took a look at the way the coach and chassis batteries are hooked together and there is no common hot wire connected to the batteries, everything goes through a solenoid and is activated by the key switch.  If I had a similar problem, I would hunt around for a used Winnebago somewhere and ask if I could take a look at how things are hooked together (dealer or private individual).
