Saab Repair: Heater works but only from the front dash panel, dash panels, dash panel

I recently purchased a 1999 Saab 9-3 convertible. The heater works great but it only blows from the front dash panels, not the defroster or the floor? Would the switch be faulty or could it be something else? If it is the switch is it difficult to replace?

Answer
The 99's had a problem with the distribution drum binding causing the linkage rod to it to break. You may be able to replace the rod and getting back in order for a while. Pull out the glove box and the trim panel to the left of it and inspect the rod to see if it is broken
