Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): summerizing, removable pins, dirty oil

Question
Hello John ... I recently acquired a John Deere 112l lawn tractor with a snow blower attachment. The engine is a Kawasaki FB-460V . Now that winter is almost over, I want to put it to sleep the right way so when I wake it up, it runs as good as it does now.  Would you please tell me what to do.  Thanks very much!

Answer
Hello Frank:

>>I Usually Suggest Running the Last 1/4 Tank of Gas out of the Unit and Carburetor After Adding a Small Amount of 2 Cycle Oil to the Gas.
>>The 2 Cycle Oil will Coat the Internal Components of the Fuel System and Carburetor with an Oil Film and Help Prevent Varnish Build up.
>>Make Sure the Unit is Clean and then Oil All the Pivot Points (Idler Arm Brackets, Any Removable Pins, ect) and Cables with a Lubricating Oil, Not Penetrating Oil.
>>Change the Spark Plug, Oil and Clean/Change the Air Filter.
>>I Usually Service the Unit Before Storage. It is Better to have New Oil in the Crankcase than the Old Dirty Oil Setting there for 5 Months or More.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
