Saturn Repair: 95 SL2 Cutting Out, saturn dealership, torque converter

My Saturn runs fine, then all at once, everything goes bad. The car
runs terrible until you turn it off and restart the car. Then all is
fine again. This happens about 3 times a week. Saturn dealership is
next to useless, so I'm asking people who really know.....you guys!
Another problem (related) I'll be driving along and the car downshifts
to 2nd gear on its own and stays there until, once again, I restart
the car. So what's wrong?

Hi well it sounds like there is a bad sensor have no idea which one we would have to put it ona scanner to get some info with the tranny does it down shift or does the torque converter lock up..when this happens if u come to a stop sign does the car try to drive through it?
