QuestionHydrostatic transaxle on Craftsman DLT3000 Mod. # 917-273482 is locked up. Need to know two things 1.How is best way to remove it and is it possible to overhaul a hydro? Is there a step by step video available 2.Is it possible to replace Hydro with Manual and if so are step by step instructions available?

Answer1. Support rear of mower, on the "bumper" area. You can use a ratch tie strap strung over a rafter to hold up the rear of the mower. Remove wheels. Dis-connect belt and drive linkages. Remove bolts holding transmisssion to tractor. Remove trans.
Yes, you can over-haul the hydo unit. It is a Hydor-Gear transmission.

The manuals are not a step-by-stem video but are very helpful.
As for question number 2, no, I would not even attempt to install a manual. Too many mods would have to be made.
