Car Stereos: CUT OFF!!!, ford escort wagon, car stereo equipment

Question
I Hooked up all of my after market car stereo equipment and it worked fine. i was on the last step of hooking up AUX and usb inputs into the back of my Pioneer DEH-P6000UB Head Unit. upon place the unit back into dash everything cut out! I hooked up another Deck, Sony CDX-GT07HP and still i got nothing. what happened, all wires were taped up accept for the Remote Power, in which i later taped off, what could have possibly happened? I have a '97 Ford Escort Wagon and replaced the radio Fuse and still nothing...

Answer
Hi Corey,

If the other deck you tried doesn't even turn on, I'd say it's definitely a fuse somewhere.  Perhaps you replaced the incorrect one, or the car has improperly or poorly labelled them.

It's also possible that there is more than one fuse for that particular function in your car.  Some cars have 2 fuse panels -- one on the inside of the car near the driver, and another under the hood.

The issue is almost certainly a cause of something touching that shouldn't have when putting everything in the dash, and you've shorted out something, which would have caused a fuse pop.

Good luck,
Justin
