Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Scott Bonnar model 45 series mower 14, scott bonnar, briggs stratton

Question
Hi John,

My blade has become blunt and it requires to be set& sharpened. I was thinking can the reel be turned around so the rear facing edge can be utilized as it is still sharp, if so is it fairly easy to do?. Also the mower is powered by a 3hp Briggs & Stratton, lately it has not been starting, basically to get it started I inject fuel directly into the cylinder head via the spark plug, pretty much starts every time. Any idea what the problem might be ( carby issues?).

thank you for your time

regards

Gavin

Answer
Hello Gavin:

>>Setting and Sharpening are the Only way to Correct the Cutting Problem.
>>The Reel cannot be Turned and Operated as you Described.
>>From your Description of How you are having to Start the Engine, it Sounds like the Carburetor Requires Soaking and Cleaning and New Carburetor Parts (depending on the Engine Model) if Required or the Engine has Low Compression and Requires Valve or Ring Repairs.
>>If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I Hope to be Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy. Thanks.

Good Luck
