Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): LT4000 Breaking Issues, exact model number, craftsman lt4000

Question
I have an older Craftsman LT4000 (which is a great tractor). Mostly used in the winter for plowing the snow. I try to keep up on the maintenance twice a year. I think the plowing is extremely hard on the tractor. Now when I pull of the engage pedal to stop the unit keeps rolling. The unit will come to a stop but only because of friction from the blade. I can get the model number and such I just don't have it at the moment. Shifting through the gears it works fine, the tractor seems fairly quick when in high gear (I think 6).

Answer
You probably need to adjust the brakes, or replace the pads. I don't have the exact model number, but most are located on the right rear of the tractor, pretty much behind the rear wheel. There is a small disk that rotates and a arm which is either pushed back or pulled forward by a rod and it pushes 2 pins into the pad to stop the disk from rotating. If you tighten the nut that is on the stud sticking out of the center of the brake bracket it should help.
