Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): followup to your responce on 5/14, quick responce, selenoid

Question
re: j.d. gx95      john thanks for your quick responce. i took out the fuel selenoid and tested it with 12 volts after i free it up,it is non removable and it did not pull in with 12v applied. ifound j.d. dealer got a price and fell on the floor. 100 bucks for a little selenoid. question is what happens if cut tip off and put it back in and run it like the j.d. dealer told me to do?

Answer
Hello Again George:

>>The Purpose for the Carburetor Solenoid is to Shut Off the Gas through the Main Jet of the Carburetor when you Turn Off the Engine and Gas cannot be Pulled into the Engine Once the Voltage is Removed from the Solenoid.
>>This Prevents Engine Backfire and Engine Run on After the Engine has been Shut Off.
>>I Didn't Tell you this (lol), but the Only Problem you May have is Engine Backfire or Engine Run On.
>>You can Prevent Both of these Problems Simply by Allowing the Engine to Run at Idle for a Couple of Minutes before you Shut Off the Engine.
>>You can Do as you Described and Not Harm the Engines Operation. Make sure the Tip is Cut Even with the Body of the Solenoid and Store the Solenoid Hot Wire so it will Not Ground Out Against the Engine or Other Metal Components.
>>I am Only Telling you this because the Price of Carburetor Solenoids are Ridiculous and Outrageous and I can't See Why the Cost is so High for such a Small and Simple Part.
>>Till Next Time. May All Your Mechanical Problems be SMALL ONES and as Always, May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Be Safe and Happy.

Best Wishes and Good Luck
