Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): brush mowers, commercial mowing equipment, goat model

Question
Mr Jones, I'm interested in purchasing a brush mower.i'm looking at the DR model fbm171e, Billy goat model bc2403h and the swisher model wb11524.which one would you rate best and which is the best one for the price?also are the Kawasaki and Honda motors that much better than the Briggs

Answer
The mower frames themselves aren't the weak points in my eyes, it's the engine.

The Kawasaki is the second best small engine made.  It provides good power for many years with very little trouble.  I ran them for many years on commercial mowing equipment and engine problems were almost non-existent.

The Honda is the best small engine made.

Either are much, much better than any Briggs engine.  Not that the Briggs is junk, it's not, especially the Vanguard, but even Brigg's best engine is still not the equal of an entry-level Honda or Kawasaki.

For commercial equipment, I wouldn't consider a Briggs engine myself.  Not that any of these are commercial equipment, they're all rather lightweight for what they're used for.  We service quite a few Swisher machines, the tow behinds are pretty good, and the DR's as well.  The Billy Goat mower I haven't had in yet, but they all look to be made about the same.

I'd choose based on the engine first, Honda, then the operator features.  Good luck, PK.
