Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Oil, john deere tractor, automobile oil

I just bought a John Deere tractor, do I have to buy their oil and filters or can I use automobile oil and filters instead  Is tractor oil different then what I put in my car?

You don't have to buy there filters and oil. The oil should be Small engine oil either 5w-30 or 30w.I would search for a oil filter that will be compatible with the engine,do not use auto filters. Use your search engine to find out what you need.
