QUESTION: Yes it is the gov. kit p/n 25-310-07-s. The symptoms were that it jumped time and broke the governor, and ex. cam. I have replaced both cams, and now i need the procedure to install the gov. kit with out having to down load a service manual. My computer is very slow and that would probably take me a week to down load.

Answer
Ah yes... the good old days... Kohler had a problem with the little tab on the camshaft breaking... I remember well now.  To remove the old gov gear, simply place two straight bladed screw drivers under the gear and pry up.  You will break two tabs off the gear when doing this, this is normal.

Once removed, inspect the gov shaft.  If this is damaged, you will need to replace it.  You replace the pin by driving it out with a pin punch or a press.

Simply slide the new gear onto the shaft until you hear it "click" in place.

One thing i really like about this engine is the fact that you don't have to remove from the tractor to do internal work.

Make sure your flywheel nut is properly torqued as well.  This was a problem with this series as well.

Happy Tinkering... Let me know how it goes!
