Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): OIL BLOWING OUT THE EXHAUST?s, craftsman model, crankcase breather

Question
Hi John, I have a Craftsman Model 917 272246 it has a Kohler Model CV624S Engine. It is blowing oil out of the exhaust, and of course it is using oil and it is smoking a lot.

I am thinking that there might either be a blocked breather hose or a cracked ring on the piston.

I appreciate any help that you can give me. Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Scott
