Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): How to measure crankshaft diameter/size, crankshaft diameter, briggs and stratton

Question
I have a Briggs and stratton engine (model 132922 Type 0134 01 code 85082207 ) in a rover colt ride on mower, I am looking at replacing the engine how do I identify the correct shaft size. It starts at 1 inch reduces to 7/8" round + the key section is still 1 inch. Is it a one inch tapering keyed shaft or 7/8 ".

Answer
Hello Denzel:

>>If the Keyed Section is 1" and then the Crankshaft Reduces to 7/8", then this is a 1" Tapered Shaft.
