Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): snowblower, catastrophic consequences, drive pulleys

Question
I have a 5 yr old white outdoor snowblower .. has a 30" cut with a 10.5 hp tecumseh engine.... my question is in regards to the drive pulleys.... I was thinking about increasing the size of the drive pulleys which come off the engine from ,, Im guessing at sizes but lets say it is 2" and I change it to 3"... this would ultimately speed up the snow discharge impeller as well as the augers.... I would lose some torque if I did this.. but the increase in speed may make up for that.... Do you think this would harm the engine??? I might give it a try sometime just to see what happens.... Was just thinking this would give me a snow eating monster... compared to the small beast it already is.... Could you give me your 2 cents on this ... I would appreciate it..

Answer
I would NOT attempt this.  I understand the need and reasoning to want to do this, but the welds on the impeller portion of the snowblower may not handle the faster speed causing pieces of the auger to break and act as shrapnel flying out of the shoot.  This of course could have catastrophic consequences to bystanders.

Sorry if this is not what you wanted to hear, but you did ask my 2 cents worth
