Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower engines, crankshaft size, horizontal drive

Question
I am wanting to upgrade my horizontal drive mower engine from a Mk 15 Villiers to a 5.5hp Honda, and would like to know the RPM difference, will pulleys need changing?
thanks
Bob

Answer
Hello Bob:

>>You can View the Technical Information on you Villers Engine at this Site Addy; http://www.asecc.com/data/villersdata.html .
>>It's been a While since I have Seen or Worked on a Villers Engine and I cannot Remember if they have the Same Crankshaft Size as the Honda 5.5 Hp Engine.
>>The Operating RPM's on the Honda (3200 - 3400  and some 3600 - 3800) are Slightly Higher than the Villers (2800 - 3000), but the Difference should Not be Enough to be of a Major Concern. You Simply have to Operate the Engine at a Slightly Slower RPM or Operate the Unit in a Lower Gear.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
