Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh Engines, trouble shooting guide, recoil starter

Question
Hello,
I'm in the market for a new 6 hp Tecumseh engine for my daughter's go kart. There are 2 power sports models available(OHH60-71216 and OHH60-71114) that I'm interested in. The 71114 model includes a "screw type" recoil starter and costs about $100 more. Neither model includes an alternator. Is there any quality difference or features that warrant the additional cost?

Thanks,
John

Answer
Hello John:

>>Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf  .  >>This Site Addy; http://www.outdoordistributors.com/Tecumseh/tmain.html has a Link to a PDF Trouble-Shooting Guide. Simply Select the Free PDF Download for the Tecumseh Trouble-Shooting Guide.
>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers . Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing.
>>I could Not Think of a Major Difference, so I Looked at Both Breakdowns and I Really do Not See or Remember a Difference that would Call for a $100.00 Difference in Cost. I know the OHH60-71114 is Supposed to be a Special Application Engine, but Other than that I have No Other Information on it. The Breakdowns are of the Same Engine.
>>I Suggest that if you are Determined to Use a Tecumseh Engine, then the OHH60-71216 Model is the Engine to Purchase. Remember that Most Go-Kart Fuel Tanks have a Foam Insert that Helps Prevent the Gas from Travelling Away from the Fuel Pick up During Acceleration and Turns.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
