Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Blade will not engage, center bolt, honda gcv 160

Question
Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Blade will not engage, center bolt, honda gcv 160
Underside of Deck
Hi John,

I was doing maintenance on my Honda GCV 160 push mower (i.e. change the oil, sharpen the blades). With this being the first time I have sharpened the blades, I did foolishly turn the center bolt on the blade in order to begin removal.  After noticing that turning the center bolt only rotated the blade belt, I figured out that I only needed to unscrew the outer 2 bolts in order to remove blades (never taking out or even loosening the center bolt).  After sharpening, changing the oil, and filter, the mower started right up.  Then tried to engage the blade - nothing.  Pushing the yellow lever down provided no resistance and almost felt as though the cable on the underside was not connected.  I did give a little tug and wiggle and it appears to be connected.  I have turned the center bolt again and the belt turns fine. One bit I found inconsistent is that before I took the blades off, when I would turn the blades with my hand the belt did move as well.  Now when I turn the blades with my hand, the belt will not move, but will move when I turn the center bolt.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Ryan

Answer
Hello Ryan:

>>Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you.
>>From your Description it Sounds like a Blade Clutch Problem and the Blade Clutch is Shown with the Mower Assemblies and Not the Engine Assemblies. Thanks.
