Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere 524D Snowblower, blue flame, valve clearances

Question
I have a John Deere 524D snowblower with a Tecumseh HSSK50-67377S engine and electric start. It initially starts but will only run for a few minutes. If I am persistent and get it to run, it lugs under load and a blue flame will come out of the exhaust.

It just installed a new carburetor, fuel lines, fuel filter and spark plug. And flushed the fuel tank.

What else could be wrong with it???

Answer
Hello Ron:

>>You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Engine and Mower at this Site Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers and Click Find. Then Select your Model from the Search Results Area. Then Select the Sectional File. Then Select the Section of the Mower you Wish to View Online. *You can Drag the View Windows for Better Viewing.*
>>The Engine is the 5HP Engine File.
>>Is the Spark Plug Properly Gapped? .030in - .035in..
>>After Viewing a Breakdown of this Engine and From Your Description it Sounds like the Valve Clearances Require Setting, Valves Require Seating or the Ign Coil is Bad and Requires Replacing.
>>Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag, if I Missed Something or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.
