Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Murray Select riding lawn mower, briggs and stratton, horizontal shaft

Question
I have a Murray Select Riding lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. 13.5HP and a 40'' cut.  All I want to know is how do you change the oil.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Joseph,
To change the oil on most small engines is very simple. Look underneath the engine housing. If this engine is a vertical shaft, then there should be a screw that has a square hole. A rachet of this size and an extension should be used to open this. If the engine is a horizontal shaft, then there should be a plastic or metal finger-tightened screw that you should untwist and then tip the engine over to drain the oil. Also check to make sure the oil filter is clean, if equipped. Hope I helped!
