Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HS 724, arinet, american honda

Question
QUESTION: I have a Honda HS 724 track snowblower. It makes a loud screeching noise as the augers are engaged. Once engaged the noise is no longer noticable. It was just serviced and had new belts installed at the dealer. Thanks

ANSWER: Hello John:

This can be Caused by Either the New Belts or a Bearing. If the Unit was Not Making this Noise before it was Serviced and had the New Belts Installed, then the Belts are the Cause. I Suggest you Call the Service Center that Installed the Belts and Explain the Problem to them. It May be the Belts Need to Wear in a Little. You can Use Belt Dressing and Quiet the Noise. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Mower/Engine at this Site Addy, http://hayward.arinet.com/scripts/EmpartISAPI.dll?MF&app=ASP&lang=EN&TF=Mainfram and Select the Catalog American Honda. Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hey John,
Thanks for the quick reply. I actually loaded it back up and brought it to the dealer. The unit did have this noise when I brought it in, I was hoping the belts would cure it, or that they would locate what ever was causing the noise, and repair it. They are telling me the noise is caused by the auger break releasing. I do not remember it being as loud when the machine was new, however it was always there to some extent, just not as loud as it is now. Again it goes away when once the augers have started to rotate. This guy has told me a few things that I don't agree with, that is really why I was looking for a second opinion, I don't want to get stuck in the middle of a big clean up. Thanks

ANSWER: Hello Again John:

No Worries. I Fully Understand your Situtation. If the Brake is Set a Little Close it will Screech as you Described. I would Say the Tune Up Involved Adjusting the Brake as Well as Replacing the Belts and therefore the Louder than Normal Noise. Thanks for the Update. Please, Do Not Hesitate, If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hey John, thanks so much for the help and advice. I looked at the machine break down you had sent me. I do not really see just what makes up the auger break assembly, there is nothing labled as such that I saw. I hope it gets quieter instead of noisier! You have been very helpful. Have a great day.
