Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): B&S 6.75 no start, system checks, intake manifold

Question
5 year old B&S 125K02 type 0243 E1 that will not start. Cleaned the carb, replaced needle & seat & all gaskets except exhaust.  New intake manifold, old was cracked. Plug is new, gets wet & has spark. Checked & adj. static govenor setting. Has fresh gas & air filter. Won't start even with starting fluid sprayed into carb & on air filter. At this point I'm about ready to take it out back & bury it.

Answer
Hello Dan,

If you have a WET spark plug in a no-start condition then the following checks should be done.

1. Defective spark plug. [including check gap on plug]

2. Restricted - clogged air filter

3. Fuel is stale or not proper

4.  Sheared or damaged flywheel

5.  Carburetor needs adjustment.  Possibly causing flooding - over priming etc.

6.  Ignition system checks

If after you gone through all these checks you still don't come up with anything, then possibly taking it back might be the next option.

Good luck,

Howard B.
