Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi Trimmer, clean fuel tank, ryobi trimmer

Question
I have a Ryobi trimmer that has no RPM.  It starts fine when in the starting mode, but once it starts, you must place the choke level in the middle position.  It will stay running, but if you push the choke lever to the full open or in choke mode, the engine will die.

What is your opinion on this problem?

Answer
The run circuit inside the carburetor is dirty you may also have a dirty fuel filter.  Remove the carburetor take it apart use the wire from a twist tie clean all the air and fuel passages blowout with carburetor cleaner or compressed air.  Purchase a carburetor kit from a dealer and be sure to install all the parts.  Reassemble and mount using new mounting gaskets.  Clean fuel tank and fuel cap vent.  Before attaching the fuel line be sure you have good fuel flow.  Attach choke and throttle linkage and adjust to wide-open throttle.
