Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Bolens lawn mower, drive belts, lawn mower

Question
I have a Bolens which stopped running while my wife was cutting grass.  The tractor is stuck in gear and when it starts it will not move and will only run for about 10 seconds.  Is the drive belt shot?  Should I replace all of the belts above the cutting deck?

Answer
Nick,

By all means yes try replacing the belts drive belts will sometimes loosen over time and just like all things need to be replaced the reason it is stuck in gear is because the transmission locked up when the mower died when you remove the belt try starting it if it runs without dying then move your mower forward slightly and take it out of gear then install the main drive belt that should take care of that
