I have a Craftsman I?C 20hp twin Riding (42 deck) tractor with a Briggs Stratton Model #407777 0174-E1.After about 1 hr the engine cough and wees and stops and appears to rev up RPm before it stops. I take very good care and change the oil ,blades, and  air filter every year. I live in Vt and cut about 2 acres with some hills.

From what you describe the engine is running out of fuel.  The first thing I would do is replace the fuel cap or at the least clean the vent.  If it is not it try replacing fuel lines and fuel filters.  Don't forget to fuel shutoff valve.  There is sometimes a screen attached to it.  Hope this helps
