Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small engines, gas tank, small engines

Question
i have a yard machine mower with a 4.5 briggs and stratten engine. after i prime it it starts and then dies right away. put new gasket on the carb. and sprayed with carb. cleaner. no luck!

Without a doubt it is starving for gas, it gets a few sprays from the primer which is a different circuit. After it burns that portion of the gas it can not pull enough from the main jet that is the running circuit. You didn't furnish me with the model and type number, can I assume this is the model that sits on the gas tank and has a pick-up tube?.......You are faced with a complete carb rebuild situation. I need the model number, and type to guide you through it.......Tom
