Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 2004 PoulanPro (22HP) wont go forward or reverse, woodruff key, pulley system

Question
QUESTION: I mowed my entire lawn, then let it sit to cool off, when i went to pull it over to wash it off with the hose it wouldn't go forward or reverse. It is running, i looked under the deck and don't see a belt off or broke, can anyone please help?!? If you could guide me to what it could be and the best way you know how to fix it, any help would be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: Hello Michelle:

It Sounds like the Belt has Jumped Off the Clutch Idler. When this Happens Sometimes the Belt will Look as if it is Still on the Pulley System because the Belt Guard Keeps the Belt from Falling. Send me the Model Numbers Off the Mower, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. Thanks.

QUESTION: Hi, John. Sorry it took so long bbut you seem like a busy man, this is the first break i've had to get back to ya lol.
Here is more info on my PoulanPro riding mower, model # is PD22H42ST      Mfg # PD22H42STB       (mines the mower that cranks fine but won't go forward or reverse)   thanks again in advance for any help you can send my way, I'm a single mama of 2 so I can't really afford to take this to get fixed.    :) Michelle from alabama

Answer
Hello Again Michelle:

You can View a Breakdown of this Unit at this Site Addy; http://www.oscar-wilson.com/manual_results.asp?search=PD22H42ST&Submit=Submit and Select your Model Number for Online Viewing. On Page 6 of 17 you can See the Ground Drive Belt and Pulleys. Make Sure the Belt is Turning the Transaxle Pulley (#3) and that the Shaft of the Transaxle is Also Turning. Sometimes the Woodruff Key (#79) can Shear and the Pulley will Turn, but the Input Shaft will Not be Turning. If the Transaxle Pulley and Input Shaft is Turning, then there is an Internal Transaxle Problem and the Transaxle Must be Removed from the Mower and the Transaxle Housing Opened to Locate the Cause of this Problem. I Suggest you Remove the Cutter Deck and Physically Check the Belt Routing and Make Sure the Belt is on All the Pulleys and is Moving Properly. It is Rare for a Transaxle to have Internal Problems this Early Unless it is Being Used for Commercial Use. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem,  I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. May the All Mighty Bless You and Yours. Thanks.

Good Luck
