Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh powerhead, coil resistance, question pool

I have a Tecumseh #T-640-05A serial # 6739818 2 stroke off a boat motor.  Its old! Think its 7.5 HP.
No spark Some kind of electronic ignition. No points.
Is there a way to test the module. Coil resistance readings look allright. High and low R.  Also can I change this to points if the module or pickup is bad. I heard somebody sells reman e.I. but well over $100.
Any help appreciated.
