Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Homelite blower, carby, plastic valve

Question
QUESTION: Hi from Australia,
I have a Homelite blower which has a Walbro k10-wat carby on it. Was having troubles getting it started so I got a new carby kit. Runs well now but I have to keep pumping the primer bulb to keep it running! Have noticed that the priming bulb pressurizes the fuel tank. I must have put something back the wrong way but can not work it out.
Your help greatly appreciated  cheers ash

ANSWER: Hello Ashley:

Switch the Fuel Lines on the Primer and Carburetor. The Primer is Pressurizing the Tank and Not Pushing Gas to the Carburetor. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of the Carburetor at this Site Addy, http://69.16.165.8/ and Select Service & Aftermarket. Now Select Aftermarket Parts and Service. Now Select the OEM (Homelite). Now Select Blower (Backpack Unit). Now Select your Carburetor (WT10) from the List Provided. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: John,  I have done that and pulled the carby apart again.Their is 2 hoses 1 from near the priming bulb which returns back to fuel tank, thieir is air pumping that way when you press prime button returning to fuel tank. Buttom line comes from fuel tank and when pressing prime button it does suck up but I wouldnt say it is gushing in thou. The engine is reving a little more but still need to push prime to get full rpm
To me I think it is not sealing air tight around prime bulb
or gasket underneath that. You get extra gaskets with kit ,I just hope i have it sorted what goes were. Carby diagram is not that clear. I have 2 gaskets between plastic valve body and housing, not sure if it is sucking air around their. I had fuel intake cover off turned up side down and put petrol around fuel screen then pushed prime bulb and it didnt seem to suck it away quickly. Shows to me that must be sucking air near fuel bulb or body that bulb attachs to. I am at a loss to figure it out. Just hope I have the right gaskets in the right place, which I have double checked and seems right.

Any futher advice greatly appreciated
Ash

ANSWER: Hello Again Ash:

You May have the Gaskets Wrong. Do you have the Old Gaskets for a Reference? From your Description it Sounds Like the Gaskets are Reversed, Simply the Wrong Ones or as you Suspect a Gasket is Leaking. I am Suspecting a Gasket in the Wrong Place. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, then I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

QUESTION: John,  I have double checked gaskets looked at what little hole goes were and followed the fuel route when it goes through the carby and it all makes sence to me. My next question would be could the engine be loosing vaccuum hence won't suck enough petrol through?  That is about were I am at.  Your thoughts greatly appreciated. Ash

Answer
Hi Ash:

Have you Checked the Exhaust Port and Muffler for Carbon Blockage? This is the First Component to Check when you have a Carburetor Problem on a Trimmer or Chainsaw. Remove the Muffler and Inspect the Exhaust Port for Carbon Blocking the Exhaust Port. Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen (in the muffler) for Blockage Also. If you Hit a Snag or this Does Not Correct the Problem, then I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Hope this Helps. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
