Question
the engine runs, but dies when i take my foot off the brake pedal. also, we tried to disengage the transmission so we could push it and were not able to push the tractor

Check the Seat Safety Switch. If the Seat Safety is Bad is will Cause the Engine to Quit when the Clutch is Released or when the Blades are Engaged. On Some Models you Simply Unplug the Safety Switch and on Other Models you Must Jumper the Plug Once the Switch is Removed. Did you Use the Pressure Release Lever to Unlock the Transaxle? This is a Hydro Transaxle and will Not Roll Unless the Pressure Release is Working. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the H. Then Select Hydro-Gear. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. The Release is Breakdown #49 at the Above Site Addy. Hope this Helps.
