Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Norlett cultivator, briggs stratton engine, briggs stratton

Question
Have just found your v. helpful answer to [[Date: 11/15/2006
Subject: Briggs & Stratton magneto]]...i have same problem with Norlett cultivator; do I need to remove flywheel to access contacts you refer to? (Not certain if its a Briggs/stratton engine). Cannot find any name/serial numbers. Could email a pic next week.

Answer
Hello Rob:

The Model Numbers are STAMPED Into the Blower Housing. Usually Above the Spark Plug or Above the Muffler. If the Engine is an Older Model, then the Point Set (contacts) is Under the Flywheel. If the Engine is Newer with a Magnetron Ignition, then the Coil/Magnetron is Under the Blower Housing and is Gapped at .020in from the Flywheel. The Point Set is also Gapped to .020in. Even if the Engine is a Tecumseh, the Point Set is Under the Flywheel. Most All Point Sets and Magnetron/Coils are Set at .020in. The Model Numbers will Assist me to Assist you. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
