Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Identifying Briggs Engines (Craftsman), craftsman model, briggs and stratton

Question
Hi, I have an older Briggs and Stratton engine that was reportedly a 7 or 7.5hp engine.  There's a Craftsman model and serial number on the cowl.  Its a model # 143 626022, serial number 1175D.

My question is, is there a way to cross reference the Craftsman model number to the actual Briggs model information?  I need some parts for this engine and the parts are no longer available through Sears.  I have access to local Briggs parts distributors, but they all need the model, type and related info.

Any help you can provide is very much appreciated.

Oh, I believe this engine was for a snow thrower.  Its now going on a go kart.

Thanks!
David

Answer
Hello David:

The Model Numbers are for a Tecumseh Engine. You can View a Breakdown/IPL of this Engine at this Site Addy, http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ and Select the T. Then Select Tecumseh. Then Select Don't have Part Numbers. Then Enter the Model Numbers 143.626022. Then Select your Model and Download the File for Online Viewing. You can Purchase Parts from this Site Aslo. Since this is a Tecumseh Engine, I have a PDF Site Addy that May Assist you Also. http://www.tecumsehpower.com/CustomerService/BSI.pdf Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.
