Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Parts swapping, question pool, inner diameter

Question
I have two engine briggs, a 12.5 HP and 13HP L head cast iron sleeve. I am overhauling my 12.5 HP model 28T707,and I want to use the crankshaft and piston of the other engine, masurements are almost the same, inner diameter of the cylinder, the width of the piston and the bearings are exaqctly the same, will it affect the performance of the rebuilt engine once I swap some parts. Will appreciate your opinion very much. Thanks.

Answer
Hello Dan:

Sorry for the Delay. This Question was Located in the Question Pool. I Used to Do as you Are Doing. You Must Make Sure the Parts you are Using Match the Old Parts. If they Do Not Match, then Usually you are Going to have Problems. Seldom do I Use a Crankshaft and Connecting Rod in a Different Block Unless the Blocks and Crankshafts Match 100% from the Top Oil Seal Area to the Bottom Oil Seal Area. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
