Isuzu Repair: Transmission shifts hard, alternator problem, wiring schematics

Question
Why does my 1998 hombre shift hard after it warms up?Also every light I have flickers especially when I first start it up but it never goes away. Some one says the alternator has something to do with the transmission

Answer
The problems you described could be caused by a number of things, but first off, it sounds like you may actually be having a grounding problem, not necessarily an alternator problem. That could cause the lights to flicker, and if the ground for the transmission computer is loose, it will constantly reset and shifting could be erratic. As far as the transmission goes though, it seems more likely that it could be overheating, or you could have either too little or too much fluid. If you have too much fluid, it will expand as the transmission heats up, causing too much line pressure. You may have already done this, but check the level and send me a follow up. Remember to check the transmission fluid when the vehicle is running. And as far as the lights go, like I said its probably a ground connection, maybe even a faulty dimmer switch. Try checking the battery terminals first. I am going to check the wiring schematics for your vehicle and see where the grounding points are, and then when you send me the follow up, I'll have more information.

Sincerely,

Travis
