Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine failure, kawasaki engine, fan shroud

Question
QUESTION: While mowing the lawn, my 19hp Kawasaki engine on a Scag mower suddenly stopped running.  Full tank of gas, checked all safety switches, oil etc. help!

ANSWER: Does the engine have spark?  Does the engine turn over normally?  What do the plugs look like? are they wet or are they a fluffy black, like a 70's flocked "Elvis Presley" poster.

If you have spark and the plugs are a powdery black, read my reply today to Donald's question.

If Donald's problem isn't your problem get back to me with more info.

I'm guessing you need a new dealer also.

QUESTION: There is nothing the motor does not turn over either.  Hot battery also.  Graveyard dead

Answer
Try jumping the solenoid and see if it will crank.
If it won't, pull off the fan shroud and try to turn the engine with a wrench on the flywheel bolt.  If it turns freely with the wrench you have a safety issue. Probably the PTO switch (that's a guess though).

If it doesn't turn, drop the PTO clutch off and see if it spins, If it does you need a PTO clutch, if it doesn't you need a new heart, replacement engine is about 1000,00.

Doubt you need that if you have kept the oil clean.

I'm here for follow up!
