Question -
The front right wheel of my 1992 Mercedes 190E 2.6 is leaking brake fluid. The pedal is completely soft and fluid appears on the inside of the rim. It is a disc. What would typically cause the leak?

Thanks

Danger:
The car is not safe to drive.

Caliper piston seal and/or flex line are bad.

I want to attempt the repair. If I purchase a caliper piston seal kit does it require any special tools? I do not believe it to be the flex line.

Answer
If you have never rebuilt calipers, call Phil and get rebuilt calipers instead, they should be less than $60.00 USD each.

There are special tools, but you can not get them, and most mechanics do not use them.
Plan two days to rebuild both calipers.
Please be aware, if the piston seal is nicked or cut, it will fail catastrophically.
