Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): John Deere axle bearing, john deere model, roll pin

Question
I am trying to replace the axle bearing (part #JD8654) on a John Deere Model 68.  I can't get the groove pin (part #25H749) out of the axle. I was using a hammer and a 1/8" punch but I can't get it to move.  I assume that the pin can come out in either direction. How do I get this pin out so that I can replace the bearing?  If all else fails, can I drill it out?

Answer
Hello Gary:

Use PB Rust Catalyst on the Roll Pin. Allow to Soak for a Few Hours. You May have to Heat the Area Around the Rool Pin to Get it to Expand Away from the Pin. If All Else Fails, you can Drill the Pin Out if you have the Proper Drill Bits. Hope this Helps. I am Here if You Require More Assistance. Let Me Know What Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
