Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Scotts riding mower transmission linkage, sectional index, release lever

Question
have a scotts riding mower with the 16hp kholer engine. the transmission (variable type) is engaged and I cant get it to release.  I cannot start the engine.  when I push the mower, with the release lever in the back pulled out, the blades turn.  I figure there is a linkages issue.  Any thing I can do to fix it?

Answer
Hello Pat:

From your Description it Sounds like the Linkage for the Blade Engagement has Jumped Off. Go to this Addy, http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... and Enter the Model Numbers Scotts. Then Select you Model from the Results Area. Then Select Sectional Index. From here you can View the Mower in Breakdown/IPL Form. The Safety Features Won't Allow the Mower to Start if the Blades are Engaged. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

Good Luck
