Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Self Propelled, starter fluid, spark plug

Question
John--I used my 1 year old, purchased new Honda SP 3-SP two weeks ago for the first time and got it to start after several pulls.  A couple of days ago, I went to use it and it will not start (until my arm was tired).  Replaced the spark plug with a Honda plug and am getting fire.  Plenty of gas and will not crank (with choke or w/o).  About to take it to a repair shop but really don't have the money right now.  Any suggestions??? Thank--Mark

Answer
 Hello Mark:

Have you Tried Starter Fluid or Pouring a Small Amount of Gas (2 Tablespoons) into the Carburetor Throat? Does the Engine Start and Quit? If Yes, Lightly Tap on the Carburetor Bowl. The Float May have Stuck in the Up Position and the Gas Is Not Flowing Into the Carburetor Bowl. With a New Mower this Can and Does Happen Often. You May have to Remove the Carburetor Bowl and Physically Work the Float Up and Down and Spray the Needle Area with Carburetor Cleaner. If this Doesn't Help and you Haven't Hit anything with the Mower, then Remove, Disassemble and Soak the Carburetor Overnight in Carburetor Cleaner. Then Blow out the Passages with Compressed Air and Install New Kit. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
