Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ariens ST824 snow thrower gearbox shear pin, flange bearing, shear pins

Question
The shear pin in my gearbox is broken. I tried to remove the auger assembly to remove the augers and open the gear box. It's not budging. How do I pull the shaft out? Is the housing flange/bearing holding me up? Should the whole unit slide out with the impeller intact or am I missing a hidden set screw or something? Or is it just seized on at the flange?
Thanks,  Tom

Answer
Try pulling with the impeller attatched.  If you just need to rebuild the gear box on the auger assembly you can do that without tearing the whole machine apart.
Most gear boxes do not have internal shear pins.  The shear pins/bolts are on the auger shafts.  The is a worm gear inside the gear box that is prone to wear and breakage.
Let me know if this helps.
