Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Riding Mower tries to turn over but doesnt start, murray riding mower, battery cables

Question
I have an older Murray riding mower with a 12hp Industrial/commercial grade engine in it.  I bought it used, and it has ran fine up till now.  Now the mower's starter sounds like it is trying to turn over, then it will start clicking.  Does this sound like it could be the starter? Or should I be looking for something else?  Sorry if this question has been asked of you about a hundred times, thanks for taking the time to answer my question.

Answer
 Hello Jeremy

No Sorry's Please. Check the Battery for Proper Voltage. If the Voltage is 12.0VDC or Higher, then Leaving the Meter Attached; Engage the Starter and Watch the Battery Voltage. If the Battery Voltage Drops Below 10.0VDC then the Battery has a Bad/Weak Cell. If the Battery Stays Above 10.0VDC and the Starter Barely Turns the Engine, then Check the Battery Cables for Corrosion and the Starter for Binding. If the Battery is Showing Less than 10.0VDC, then Charge the Battery Until Fully Charged or Replace if Required. Hope this Helps. I am here if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
