Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman tractor quit running / wont start, craftsman lawn tractor, ampmeter

Question
I just took it a step or two further....

I jumped the solenoid and nothing happened.  I also bypassed the solenoid by attaching a battery cable from the battery to the positive lead on the starter.  The starter turned, but barely.

Now I'm thinking it's the starter, but can't figure out why the unit quit on me in the first place.

Thanks for the reply, I have been out of town and just check out the parts you recommended.

The wiring looks good however, when I first turned the key after re-connecting the wiring, I got a rapid clicking from the relay, followed by a single click afterward.  the battery still reads as being fully charged.  I will look to replace the relay and will see what happens from there.

Craftsman Lawn Tractor LT 1200
Model #917.272069
Koehler 16HP OHV

While mowing, the engine quit.  No sputtering, siezing, smoke, or abnormal noises.  It stopped as if I turned the key to the off position.

I tried to re-start the unit and I get nothing.  The battery is fully charged.  The ampmeter moves to the left when I turn the key.  I checked all wire connections and they seem solid.

I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance..........

 Hello Tony:

Check the Relay Assembly(part #109748X). Check the Seat Safety (part #160784). From your Description it sounds like either the Seat Safety or the Relay Assembly has gone bad. You can View a Breakdown of this Mower at this Addy http://www3.sears.com/ and Click the Block for Lawn Equipment. Then follow the Instructions to Get to the View Diagram/View Parts List Page. From here you can View the Breakdown of the Section of the Mower you want or View the Parts List. Hope this Helps. I am here to Help if you Require more Assistance. Let me know what Happens, Please. I enjoy knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

Answer
 Hello Tony:

Check for Burnt Wires in the Harness. Remove the Spark Plug and Jumper the Starter Again. Is the Starter Still Turning Slow? This is one of the Harder Problems to Locate. Dont Give Up. Remove the Belts from the Engine Pulley. Does the Engine Turn Proper Now? Check the Seat Safety Switch. If it went Bad while Mowing it will Shufoff the ENgine as you Described. Hope this Helps. I am Here if you Require more Assistance. Thanks.
