Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman model 917.270670, craftsman model, soleniod

Question
My craftman model 917.270670 16 hp will turn but not start.  Checked the plug and it sparks.  Fuel is flowing thru the fuel filter.  It appears that it is not getting gas somehow.  Took off the air filter and poured a little gas directly in and still nothing.  Any recommendations?

Answer
 Hello Tom:

1- Check the Compression. Compression should be 70psi or Better. 2- Remove the Valve Cover and Inspect the Valve Push Tube and Rocker Arms. Ensure they are Working Properly. 3- This Engine has a Fuel Control Soleniod in the Bowl of the Carburator. Remove the Soleniod and TEMPORARLY Replace it with a Short Bolt. If the Soleniod is the Problem, then Replace it. You can View a Breakdown of this Mower at this Addy http://shop.briggsandstratton.com/BShopProductListingPage.asp?rsvp=0&PARENTID=0&...
