Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): ECHO edge trimmer, edge trimmer, cylinder wall

Question
I have an echo edge trimmer that will not start. I bought it 3 years ago. When the first bottle of oil finish, I had use it for a while without adding oil to the gas. I notice that after adding oil to the gas recently, it started for about 3 times, each time it get a little harder to start. Now it will not start at all.
I changed the spark plug and filter with no luck.
Please advise.

Thank you in advance

Answer
 Hello Tony:

Im Sorry to be the One to Tell you This. The Motor is Trashed. Running a 2cycle Engine Without Oil is a BIG No No. The 2cycle Gets it Lubrication for the Cylinder and Piston from the Oil in the Gas. The Crankshaft and Connecting Rod are Also Lubricated by this Oil. When the Piston and Rings were Run Without Oil, they Became Hardened. The Cylinder Wall has Eaten the Rings to the Point you Have no Compression. However On A Few Occassions I Have Seen 2cycles Run and No Damage Done. This is Rare. However, Check the Exhaust Port for Blockage and Look at the Cylinder. It Should Look like Glass Smooth. If the Cylinder is Glass Smooth,No Scratch Marks; then Check the Muffler and Spark Arrestor Screen for Blockage. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please. I Really Enjoy Knowing the Outcome. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
