Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Stalling Deere, john deere stx38, engine numbers

Question
I have a John Deere STX38 Lawn Tracor.Everything was working fine last weekend, but today the problem surfaced and the tractor has become inoperable. There is not a problem with it starting or sitting in a low idle, but when I throttle it up, it backfires, sputters, and then stalls. I can sometimes slowly nurse the throttle up, but when I engage the PTO, it does the same. How can I fix it?

Answer
 Hello Gene:

1- It Sounds Like the Carburator has Picked Up some Trash/Water or Varnish formed by the Gas has Finally Restricted the Flow of Gas to the Jet to the Point it Starves the Engine at High Speeds. Clean and Rebuild the Carburator. If you are going to Attempt this Repair Yourself; Send me the Model Numbers Off of the Engine and I can Better Assist you. With the Numbers I May be Able to Locate a Breakdown that you can View Online and this will Assist you in Doing this Repair. 2- Depending on the Engine Numbers it Could be a Bad Lifter. I Suggest the Carburator First. Hope this Helps. Leet me know what Happens, Please. Thanks.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
