Question - Eric,
I ran out of time.  I had to carry my washer to a local shop.  Anyway thought I'd let you know what they found.  They give the carb a good cleaning.  The mechanic said the new seat I put in was upside down(I installed it per the instructions that came with it.  And checked two times to be sure.) Also, and this was the problem , two Welch plugs were missing.  I remember seeing one when I took the bowl off for the first time
I just didn"t know what it was.  Just thought I would let you know.
I really appreciate the help.  It's great for you'all to volunteer your time on such a website.  Again thanks!!-------------------------

Question - Eric,  I'm not familiar with the procedure you mention.  A friend was telling me about a small cover on the side of the carb, said he had an engine doing the same thing and he had to take the cover off and clean behind it.  He said to pry the cover off with a screwdriver, but I would have to get a new one to replace it.  Anyway I have taken the carb off again, and given it a good cleaning and blew it out again.  I'm going to try again and see what happens. Any other ideas?

Question - Eric
My son borrowed the washer for a while.  When I got it back, it was a while before I used it.  When I did, I noticed the problem.  My son said it ran fine with him.

I have a Briggs&Stratton 6hp Intec engine on a pressure washer. The engine won't run unless it is fully choked.  It has several clicks between fully choked and run and if you move just one click off full choke the engine dies.  When running it seems to run fairly well, but not 100%. I have replaced the float needle and seat & gaskets.  I blew the carb out with air.  Still no luck.  I'm stumped!
Thanks for any help.

Sorry it's taken so long but their website has not been working all weekend.

Did the problem happen suddenly or has the unit sat for a while?

Let me know.

Was the carb gummed up very bad?

Let me know.

Most likely the problem is still in the carb.

Are you familar with manually priming an engine?  Basically involves a small container with fuel.

Let me know.
Eric
Answer -
You know the engine is running lean...it's not getting enough fuel.  This is either the carb or a leaking gasket somewhere in the intake/fuel system.

As far a priming you can use a small container with fuel in it to keep the engine running. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS!! so be carefull.

What is the engine model, type and code number?  I look up the valve specs.
Let me know.

Answer
Yeah, those seats can sometimes be tricky to install..."Groove down" per the instructions...eaiser said and done sometimes.

Missing welch plugs are very, very rare.  They are usually so difficult to remove that we only do it if all else fails on a carb cleaning.

Did the dealer mention why they thought the welch plugs came out?
